Mir Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto

(b. 1871 – d. 1903), was the father of Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto. He is famous for having bullwhipped a British officer for which he was sent into exile to Afghanistan. Coincidentally, his namesake – Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto (b. 18 Sept 1954 – d. 20 Sept 1996) would also live in exile in Afghanistan for a significant portion of his adult life under Zia-ul-Haq’s harsh military rule in the 1980’s.
