February Spotlight
Fateh Point Archive’s spotlight of the month: “Palestine”.
For February 2025, in honor of the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation, Fateh Point Archives would like to call attention to items in its collection related to Palestine and its people. Firstly, the Palestine Monographs. These are research booklets produced by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Research Center in Beirut, Lebanon in 1965 and 1966. They contain text related to the historical setting of Zionist colonialism, the alliance of British imperialism and Zionist colonialism, the character of the Zionist settler state, Egypt's involvement with the search and seizure of Israeli contraband on its vessels, and the Egypt-Israeli General Armistice Agreement. We have also included a letter from Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (1969-2004) and President of the Palestinian National Authority (1994-2004), giving his condolences to Begum Bhutto on the news of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's execution in 1979, and photographs of a meeting the two had in 1990. Lastly, we can see Yasser Arafat pictured at the historic Islamic Summit of 1974 hosted by Pakistan. He can be seen alongside world leaders of the Arab world such as Sabah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, Muammar Gaddafi, Revolutionary Chairman of Libya, Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Prime Minister of Pakistan.
